Live Transcription

Scrivent converts your speech to text in real time — the input that feeds detection.

Starting & stopping

Use the microphone control on the console to start and stop transcription. Audio only streams while the mic is active — stop it between sermons to pause transcription (and, on the Free plan, to preserve your weekly allowance).

Connection health

The console shows a connection indicator. While it's green, audio is streaming and detections flow; if the connection drops, transcription pauses and resumes automatically once it reconnects.

Choosing a microphone

Open Settings → Audio to pick your input device. Use the Input Level test to confirm the meter moves when you speak. For best results, use the same dedicated mic your sound desk uses for the preacher.

Echo & noise

• Echo Cancellation — reduces room echo from monitors and PA. Leave on in live rooms.
• Noise Suppression — filters steady background noise (HVAC, hum).

Both settings apply the next time you start the mic.

Accuracy tips

• Speak references clearly — "John, chapter three, verse sixteen" detects as reliably as the paraphrase.
• A close, consistent mic position beats a distant room mic.
• Detection improves with a full phrase; very short fragments may not carry enough meaning to match.
