How to show Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa Bible verses on your church screen
In many Nigerian congregations, half the church reads best in English and half in Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa. You can put both on the screen at once.
Two languages, one screen
Scrivent shows the verse in the English translation you choose, with the same verse in a second language directly underneath. Every verse the pastor quotes appears in both — on the projector and on members’ phones.
Which languages and which Bible
- Yoruba — Bíbélì Mímọ́
- Igbo
- Hausa
These are the modern Biblica Open translations (© Biblica, used under an open licence), and the screen credits them. They are not the older Bible Society of Nigeria editions some congregations read from, so the wording may differ from the Bible in a member’s hand.
The screen fonts include the full alphabets — ẹ, ọ, ṣ, ṅ, ɓ, ɗ, ƙ and the tone marks — so the text reads correctly, not with missing letters or boxes.
How to switch it on
- Open the console and find the Bible translation picker. Choose your main English Bible (KJV, BSB, WEB and 15 others).
- Next to it, open + No second language and choose Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa.
- Push any verse and check it on the projector: English on top, the second language underneath.
Prefer one language only? Pick Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa as the main translation instead, and leave the second language empty.
What about preaching in Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa?
Being honest: automatic detection listens for English. When the pastor gives the reference in English — even inside a Yoruba sermon — Scrivent catches it. Verses spoken only in Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa are not detected yet, because no live speech recognition is reliable enough in those languages today. The operator can still push any verse by hand from the Bible browser, in both languages.
The same works for 12 more languages: Twi, Ewe, Swahili, French, Portuguese and more.
